Entertaining Friends – You Can Cook Healthy Choice Meals

I hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed the lovely weather we had in the UK.  Maybe you had  the first barbecue of the year or like me, entertained friends at home.

When you are trying to lose weight and eat more healthily, it is quite difficult to know what to cook which will impress your friends and not be obviously a healthy choice meal.

I think I made a pretty good choice with what I cooked for my friends on Saturday night- they seemed to enjoy it and there was nothing left, so that was a good sign!    I perhaps could have made it more healthy than I actually did, but I did want to add some ‘special’ elements in to it as well and I think the healthy bits largely counteracted the unhealthier options. Sensible Diets – My Struggle to Convert my Husband to Healthy Eating

I myself have been following a sensible diet for some time and am seeing the rewards – my weight very gradually decreases and I am fit and healthy.  My husband however, is a different story!

For many years he has “pooh-poohed” my philosophy on healthy eating, preferring to continue with his unhealthy snacks  and fatty foods, but I’m afraid it has now caught up with him and he has just discovered that he has heart disease at the age of 60.  This has come as a great shock to both of us as he actually feels perfectly well, appears totally fit and does a pysical job, but after some routine “well-man” checks, all is not as it seems on the outside.  After several weeks of stressful tests, whereby we have both been in denial thinking that some terrible mistake has been made, it has come to light that the damage is bad enough for him to need by-pass surgery. How to Lose Weight the Healthy Way – Small Changes Make BIG Differences

Fad diets or excessive bursts of exercise are not the answer when you want to lose weight. Your body prefers slow changes in terms of food and exercise. If you respect your body you must learn how to lose weight the healthy way.

If you suddenly start starving yourself, you will confuse your body and it will stop working efficiently as you will likely be denying yourself the vital nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. The same applies to sudden high levels of exercise that the body just is not used to, you are much more likely to injure yourself or become disheartened and demotivated, so setting your fitness levels back even further.

A far better approach is to introduce changes gradually. To lose weight there are two things that you need to do – reduce the amount of calories you eat and increase your levels of activity.
