Redesign Your Weight Loss

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

(This article was written by guest writer Mike.  I have included it because I think he has a good message to get across and he makes some good points.  I don’t normally endorse supplements within my sensible slimming advice, but understand that they have a place for many people who are really struggling to lose weight.)

If you too grew up as a child in an environment where meal times were always busy and upsetting, then this sense of stress may still be impacting on your eating habits and weight loss today.

To help you regain domination of your eating regime, try to bear the next 3 tips in mind the next time you prepare a dish: (more…)

Working Out Only 1 Day Out Of 3?

Friday, May 21st, 2010

[ Note: This article was written by fitness and nutrition author Jon Benson. I have his permission to share it with you. ]

Can you workout only one day out of three and make gains?

I certainly can… and I bet you can too.

Today I begin my audio series where I address your questions and comments. Today’s question comes from Mike K. in NYC who asks…

“Hi Jon…First, I LOVE your Every Other Day Diet and 7 Minute Muscle books! But I was wondering if you could help me with a problem. I’m having a hard time finding the time to make it to the gym using 7 Minute Muscle. Obviously I’m not referring to the 7 minutes (ha!) but the 5-day-per-week Monday-Friday schedule you recommend for beginners. Is there any alternatives? Thanks!”M

Below you’ll find my response and a workout plan you can put to use today to make faster gains with less overall time in the gym. Just click the “play” button to listen in.

Enjoy!

We have adapted pretty well to the healthy eating part, which has not been difficult for me as I am a healthy eater anyway, but  Phil is finding it more difficult, being a crisps, salted nuts and cakes fan, which he has obviously had to give up and find acceptable alternatives.  But he knows that he if wants to stay alive, then he has to be sensible about it.  We do still eat out at a weekend and have a few treats, but during the week we manage to stick to a healthy diet without to much difficulty. The Thinking Patterns Between the Fit and the Overweight

Monday, May 10th, 2010

No one is forced to eat a high glycemic diet of fat, sugar and calories. Weight loss depends on the willingness to change the thinking patterns about weight, then make the necessary lifestyle changes that guarantee better health for both body and mind. Losing weight means taking back control and not rely on external methods to shed pounds. Contrary to popular belief, the food producers, weight loss industry and the producers of products are not there to promote health and well-being for the average citizen. (more…)

Walking For Weight Loss

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Walking is a very easy and great way to get you moving and at the same time helping you to achieve your weight loss goals.  You can do it by yourself, with friends or family, even the dog and is a suitable form of exercise for any age.

In order to gain the most benefit from walking for weight loss, you need to walk briskly, so that your heart rate quickens a little, but you are still able to easily hold a conversation.  You need to build it up gradually so that you start off slowly and warm up your muscles for 5 or 10 minutes before you quicken your pace otherwise you may risk causing yourself an injury, as with any form of exercise. Also if you start off walking slowly and build up gradually your body will burn off fat reserves more efficiently than if you start off briskly. (more…)
